Who this concerns

Emergency mobility matters for entrepreneurs, investors and families whose life, business or capital is concentrated in one country. In calm periods, a valid passport and several visas may seem sufficient. A crisis quickly shows that family documents, legal status, banking access, powers of attorney and reserve jurisdictions matter more.

For Russian-speaking clients from Russia and the CIS, this is not always about leaving permanently. The task may be more precise: keep the current life and business, while having a second legal base if rules, banks, logistics or personal safety change quickly.

A strong reserve plan does not promise the impossible. It reduces the number of decisions that must be made under stress.

Where risk usually appears

  • Part of the family has no stable status abroad and relies only on short-term visas.
  • Dependent family documents, proof of relationship, translations or powers of attorney are not ready.
  • Banking access depends on one country, one bank or one device.
  • There is no clear understanding of which jurisdictions are realistic by timing, budget and client profile.
  • Assets or business cannot be administered quickly without the owner’s physical presence.

What to review in advance

The first layer is documents: passports, certificates, marital documents, powers of attorney, corporate records, translations and expiry dates. The second layer is status: which countries can provide a lawful route for the family, what stay and renewal rules apply, and whether dependents can be included.

The third layer is money and access: banks, cards, reserve accounts, ability to evidence source of funds, ability to explain source of wealth and ability to manage assets remotely. Digital security should also be reviewed: access to email, banks, cloud storage, corporate accounts and devices.

Next step

Start not with the best country, but with a reserve file: who is in the family, which documents are ready, where assets sit, which banks are used, how quickly the family may need to move and which jurisdictions are acceptable for real life.

After that, build several options: immediate, stable and strategic. The immediate option covers the next months. The stable option gives the family lawful status. The strategic option connects mobility with tax position, business, banking access and assets.
